12th post (i´m sick)

.Anyway so news update. Im very sick and have wat is commonly known as (on the tour that is) tap ass. see if u can work out what that means.

Anywho since comming back from machu pichu havent accomplished much. We did go and spend a night in a local home stay which was really fun. We played soccer agasinst locals and got thrashed. this was at 4000m altitude on lake titikaka and i think i almost had a heart attack. that night had dinner with the family i was staying with which was very nice. Then we danced with the locals in "native costume" which was good fun as well.

That night slept in a room u would have loved which was mud floor and walls and filled with spiders. Next day had breaky with our family and then left to these reed islands which were very touristy since those not wearing native clothing were hidden out of sight as we rocked up.anyway since then i have been sick since then and havent posted and post cards from peru cause i was going to do it on the last day but was sick in bed.anyway will send this to mum and dad as well but u most likely will see it first.

anyway lake titikaka is incredibly beautiful but most of the time i was on it i felt like crap. apparantly it meansd sacred stone or sacred panther or sacred bird. It had lots of meanings apparantly.

missing ya all and will be back soon. (so prepare to embrace my awesomness once again)

tenth post (i survived the inka trail)

ok guys heres my updates from the other side of the inka trail.

um as to the hike. it was incredible. The scenery was beautiful and itturned out that instead of having a heart attack at the end of the groupi was actually the fastest walker. Apparantly this speed has been attributed to my stronglegs and goodendurance but sarah did say she was a little concern at the strain i wasplaceing on my body as i wasd walking up. On the sencond day which wasthe hardest i was the first to every check point and came in 2 hours and40 min earlier than recomended. On the third day me and another guycalled dan scailled a 5000 m mountain (the second day only got to 4300m) which was brutal but alot of fun and it had an incredible view (and of course both guys who climed up didnt have a camera on them T.T. The group was great fun to be with and seeing some of the other pyschos on the trails made us all glad that we were in a good group.

Um but there have been alot of issues with gap and it turned out thatwhen we got back from machu pichu (of which was incredible but we wereunable to walk up the mountain next to it called waynapichu (little mountain and machu pichu is big mountain) which was one of the problems) that our fearless tour leaders sam had quit (was obviously fired). So we have been sent another leader whose seems much better and last night spent an hour and a half going through all the problems we had had with gap and our tour leader. So we are being sent of form for insurance purposes, beingtreated to a free meal and hopfully being refunded some money.

but yeah ivebeen feeling sick and most of the group has been down with one thing or another (some alot worse than others). will be back soon. james have some time so will add about pyschos on trail.

pyscho 1; started swearing on spanish at unkown male. fliiped out andsmashed him over the head with her walking stick and the proceded to rundown the stairs suicidally while crying almost taking out a few from ourgroup.

pyscho 2; refused to carry her own bag and bluntly forced the porters tocarry it for her (the carry 25 kilos and run the track so as to arriveearly and be set up for the tourists as they arrive)

pyscho ´3; was tellingthe guides and proters that really there englishwasnt good enough and they should all work alot harder at it or somethinglike that.

pyscho 4; kept biching about wainting for other members of her group

pyscho 5; almost tripped up one of our members by putting her stickinfront of him so she could overtake. then once overtaken she slowed down(and it was single file so overtaking was pointless anyway)

pyscho 6; refused to admid she was from anywhere other than usa despitehaving the thickest accent ever.plus heaps of peoples who had two walking sticks blocked the whole pathwalked insanly slowly and then refused to let anyonew pass

ninth post

hi guys havent got much to add,
spent my first afternoon in peru in lima not doing much but emailing. (everyone uses there horns in peru like mentally challanged children...constant slamming..for no reason). the next day we walkedaround lima near our hotel. we saw changing of theguards at the palace which was extreemly sloppy and the musicwasterrible. Saw a beautiful cathedral which had an incredible mosaic madeof around 3 million pieces. After that saw a fransiscan church/monastrywhich had catacombs whith around 25000 bodies. There was a painting ofthe last super and they were all eating gunnie pig? it was quite funny. That night met of the with the tour group andeveryone seemed nice accepta new zealand girl who kept askin about where to find cheap drinks. turnsout im the youngest by four months.Went out for dinner that night which wasgreat. i had a meal which was sospicey i felt physical pain for ten to fiften minutes from one flake of chilli. managed to finish it though byavoid the chili. I was disapointed though cause i had order gunnie pigbut there were all out of it.

Anyway dinner was good but the next morning our fight was canclled due tobad weather. which meant we got to take a private bus that cost us 85 usmore (we had to pay cause we could have tried flights the next day but wedidnt want to risk that because if theydidnt fly then we wouldhave missedthe start of our hike). So we left a 10.30am and got in at cusco at3.00pm......the next day. It was hell. We had some drinks and the theguys had a disgusting burger from astreet vendor so i felt sick for mostof the flight. Oh and the heating couldn´t be turned on because thewindcreen kept forgging up (ehich was fair enough considering we weredriving oncliff edgeswith massive dropped). So with no sleep, feelingsick and nearly feezing to death we made it to cusco. So no im on the internet to stuffed to do anything else. leaving to hike the inka trail 2moro morning so i shall be out of contact for a little while again.

eighth post

ok i got 30 mins ok comp access in cuba at dial up speed so couldnt update here

so i dont have alot of time so this will be brief.

got into cuba and spent one night i havana

nect day spend 155 on a taxi cause apparantly all buses in and out of havana were full booked for the next week. turned out the taxi ride was really nice. the driver pointed out stuff, bougt us an orange each and made sure we got to the right house cause some guy kept saying the he was the son of the owner of the casa we were suppost to stay at. i had no idea wat was going on cause i cant understand spanish the the taxi driver new it was a scam and took us to the right place. coincidently another aussie couple were staying in the same place in trinidade and they had to pay 268 for their taxi and the driver fell for the "hes my father" routine which we noticed was very common. oh and on the way there was a sing say w.bush.genocide@plan.hp

ok things done in trinidad, christman...smoked a cigar...it was ok. walked up a small moubntain that hada view of the city. Went horse riding through the mountians to a waterfall which was awesome. um walked arounf the town. the food was incredible for dinner and breakfast. fish rice soup vegentable and potateos for dinner and in the morning bread fruit omlete juice coffee. dinner was 8 and breakfast was three bucks.

Vinales. walked around the town. went on a hourse ride through tobacco fields. that lead to a cave which we walked through and at the end was a natural pool u cold swim in which of couse i did. road back through the tabbocco fields and smoked a vinalese cigar and had a rum drink in a grapefruit which was pretty nice. then a russian couple who went riding with us offered to take us to the beach for free. that was awesome and the beach was beautiful with white sand and clear blue water. next day went riding arounf vinalese and saw some maintian face that had been painted..it was a bit lame considering it wasnt anchient or anything but dont in the seventies.

Havana...not to much. found internet. but cause of news years eve a lot of the major measuems were closed and we could see them. on new years day everything was closed ioncluding the stall flogging of stuff to tourists. found an incredible chocolate shop there which had some of the best stuff i had ever had. saw the massive building with che´s face on it. infact saw che, fidel, camillo and marti´s facer EVERYWHERE plus viva la relociun and since 2009 is the 50 anniversairy of the revaloucion there was heaps of stuff about that.

in terms of food the places we stayed at which incredible...except the havana place wasnt so good. went out of new years and had lobster...which wasnt very well cooked....was a little disapointed. but we exchange five bucks of tourist money for the local peaso which meant we could buy local foods and super cheap (we only used about half of that in like three days). had some fried slices of potate, an 8 cent slize of pizza (with quality to match the cost). i also had a glass of wat i bleive was full of osters, which tomato juice, lime, tobasco sauce and a teaspoon of sault. disgusting but didnt go fluids to exploid from either end of my body.

trinidad and vinales were beautiful dispite tones of ferals disgusting dogs everywhere. havana was dirtier though and it stunk. dog crap everywhere as well as rotting food. the place is completely falling appart.

new years we a bit of a let down. the had an extravagansza thing for 120 bucks which wqe were like no wayyyy. fire works were ok.

um not much else to say generally...could put in more detail but dont have time....ask question about the communist haven if u want (apparantly putin was coming back to his roots or something and was suppost to be in cuba as the same time as us)

ice cream is cheap but njot very nice. oh and there are only two beers, crystal and bucanero which has a pirate on it...totally cheesy but oliver would love it.

oh and they have three wheeled cars like in mr been which was cooool.
